goddesses Raquel Welch, Ursula Andress and Marilyn Monroe have triumphed
over today's pin-ups including Kate Upton and Kelly Brook in a poll of
the 50 hottest ever bikini babes.
Although
it's 50 years since Raquel, now 75, donned a fur bikini to play a cave
woman in One Million Years BC, the image is so enduring that the sight
has eclipsed today's stars curvy including Kelly Brook, Michelle Keegan
and Holly Willoughby.
In
fact, today's celebrities don't even make it into the top three with
Kelly Brook taking fourth place after the Dr No actress and the blonde
bombshell Marilyn.
A new study has revealed the nation's
favourite top 50 bikini bodies of all time, with Raquel Welch (pictured
in One Million Years BC) taking first place
The
Gentleman Prefer Blondes star snapped up third place thanks to her
curvy figure that helped her find fame as a pin-up in the 1940s.
Michelle
Keegan made it into the top five of the poll, that was conducted
by Swimwear365, who were looking to find out if the nation's attitudes
to bikini bodies have changed.
In fact it
was the classic figures that took the top spots with Ursula Andress
(pictured left in Dr No) taking second and Marilyn Munroe, third place
on the chart
No 21st century models made the list until Kelly Brook, who appeared at number four
Swimwear365's
spokesperson, who commissioned the poll of 2,000 women to celebrate
National Bikini Day on July 5th, said: 'What we've found is that the
iconic bikini bodies of yesteryear are as popular today as they ever
were.
'No
matter where you are in the world, whether on the beach abroad or at
home in the UK, it's important to feel confident in yourself and what
you're wearing – just like Raquel Welch or Marilyn Monroe.'
The
original beach babe Pamela Anderson, famed for hot-footing it across
the beach wearing a revealing red swimsuit in Baywatch takes sixth place
in the poll.
